Draft one had feelings in it. Draft two had the same feelings with better grammar. Draft three removed the word frankly. Draft four removed an exclamation point that had been doing a truly enormous amount of work.

Draft five added a timeline. Draft six added the timeline, three bullet points, and the phrase per my last message, which she deploys the way other people throw a plate.

She sent it at 9:04am. A completely reasonable hour, from a completely reasonable person, to somebody who is about to have a deeply unreasonable morning.

What Mars is for

Mars is how you go after something and how you defend yourself when something comes after you. It is desire, drive, anger and method... not just the fight, but the way you fight.

Fire-sign Mars fights loudly and it is over in ten minutes. Water-sign Mars fights sideways and it is never over. Mars in Virgo does something different from either, and it is the reason this placement gets called weak by people who have never been on the other end of it.

Mars in Virgo does not escalate. It documents.

Virgo is a mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury, so the weapon is not force, it is accuracy. The precision is the aggression. You do not need to raise your voice when you can produce the date, the quote, the screenshot and the original agreement, in order, with the relevant line in bold.

The gift, stated honestly

This placement is genuinely formidable, and I am not going to soften that to make a point later.

You are the person who reads the contract. You are the person who noticed the number moved. You are the person who, when everybody else is emotional and loud and getting nowhere, calmly opens a document and ends the entire dispute with a timestamp.

That is a real, transferable, professionally valuable skill and it has protected you more than once.

And here is the cost

The list is real. The anger underneath the list is also real. Both of them are allowed.

But the list is doing something the list cannot actually do. It is talking instead of you.

Six drafts is not six edits, it is six passes of removing yourself from the message. By draft six there is a complete, airtight, unanswerable case sitting in that inbox and there is not one single sentence in it that says what happened to you. The sentence that hurt my feelings has been reworded into this created a downstream impact on the timeline, and everybody involved will now argue about the timeline forever, because that is the thing you gave them to argue about.

Precision is a real gift. It is also, sometimes, a very well-organised way to avoid saying you hurt me.

What I want you to try

This one is not about rest, because depletion is not what is happening here. You are not empty. You are armed.

I wish you would send the shorter one.

The version with no timeline in it. No bullets, no citations, no per my last message, no evidence. The two-sentence one that just says the thing, in your own words, at the emotional register it actually happened at.

You have never once lost an argument you prepared for. You have also never once had the conversation you actually needed to have. Those two facts are related, girl, and only one of them is going to be worth anything to you in five years.
